No cheap shots here…

Politics is dirty business…that’s “politics as usual.” The Alvarado campaign is not into “politics as usual” and will not resort to rhetorical tactics to win in 2010.

We cannot deny the fact that some people are still waiting for a winning candidate, but we accept it.   We are also aware that many Texans have yet to give serious thought to the governor’s race, much less recognize who is running for governor, with the exception of Perry and Hutchinson.  We are working diligently at reaching as many people as humanly possible, with available resources, with dignity and resolve to pass on our message of hope.

Felix Alvarado is in this race to win.  In our travels, the message has been loud and clear…things need to change.  Felix Alvarado is about bringing real change to Texas government.

The real battle, and the only one that matters is set for Nov.2, 2010. People are ready for change. Whether or not that change will take place in 2010 is yet to be known. Our goal, is to make sure it does happen.

Every voter has but one vote to cast.  Before casting your vote, answer this question. Right now, what does your future look like?

Talk is cheap!

Teachable moments…

Taking advantage of teachable moments is one thing Felix does well. Competing against one other gubernatorial candidate, recorded messages and representatives, Felix addressed students at AHS about the future of Texas and asks the question “Do you know what your future looks like?” This is a question we should all be asking ourselves.

The Alvarado Campaign wishes to thank Ms. Johnston and the AHS’s Debate Club for coordinating this event, but more importantly for inviting Felix to participate in this wonderful event.

Keep up…

Socially divisive?

Dear Mr. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa,

In your endorsement of Mr. Schieffer you commented that “Schieffer would focus as governor on “bread-and-butter issues” like health care, education and economic development instead of divisive social issues.”

This campaign has focused on the need for leadership and vision in the state of Texas. We have focused on bringing jobs to the Rio Grande Valley, much needed medical care to all South Texans, which I believe in at least one district in the Rio Grande Valley the coverage is dismal, a VA hospital for the Rio Grande Valley and improving the quality of education for all Texans.

Please explain to the good people of the Rio Grande Valley and to this campaign how these issues are socially divisive.

Thanking you for your prompt response.

Issues on the table…

“We conclude that, in the field of public education, the doctrine of “separate but equal” has no place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal.”  US Supreme Court, Brown V. Board of Education.

We are not in competition to be the best.  We are in competition with the rest of the world.”

  • A major problem currently facing Texas is…High unemployment.
  • The unemployment rate is sitting at a twenty-two year high of 8%.
  • Texas is the leading state in the U.S. with the highest percentage of citizens without health insurance.

Well, Felix was in Weatherford for the Parker County Democratic Rally and Bryan for the Brazos County Jefferson-Jackson Banquet over the weekend. Both events were well attended  and he was well received. The link below is to an article talking about the Parker County Democratic Rally. Check it out.

Thank you, to the special people that invited Felix out to their event.
